Is your car road legal?
Police spot checks are regularly carried out across the country.

To pass them, you will need to ensure that:
  • Your road tax disc is displayed.
  • Your car has passed its MOT.
  • Your vehicle is not producing high exhaust emissions.
  • Your windscreen washers are filled up.
  • The tread on your tyres is correct depth, with the right mix of radial and cross ply tyres. There must be no lumps, bulges or tears and you should ensure all tyres have an 'E' mark on them.* Cars with illegal tyres face a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points per tyre.

* While Chrysler recommend that tyres have a tread depth of at least 2.5mm across the tyre and around the circumference, the law requires that tread depth be below 1.6mm across the central ¾ of the tyre tread,
throughout the entire circumference.
